You can get paid simply to talk in English. People learning it pay to practise speaking with a fluent speaker, and that is the whole job. No script, no qualifications, no boss. You set your own rate, log in when you want, and get paid weekly into your bank.

No script. No targets. Just talk.

Learners are paying for a real, natural conversation, which is exactly what a script would ruin.

You already do this for free every day.

The only difference is that here, someone is glad to pay for the time you spend talking.

Most "get paid to talk" jobs come with a catch

Search for ways to get paid to talk and you find a familiar list. Most of it comes with a string attached.

Call-centre work

Every word is a script, with a manager listening in and a target to hit by the end of the shift.

Customer support from home

The same job, moved to your spare room. A queue, a rota, and a headset that is not really yours.

Transcription

Really just getting paid to type out what other people said, priced by the audio hour.

Focus groups and surveys

They dry up fast, and they pay in vouchers as often as actual cash.

Getting paid for your English comes up too, and it is closer to the mark. The problem is the wall in front of it: the usual platforms want qualifications and certificates, then a booked timetable to match. That is a lot of hoops for something that, at heart, is just talking.

And that is the odd part. The most valuable thing you can do with your voice, if you speak English fluently, is simply have a conversation. Millions of people are learning English right now, and the one thing they cannot easily buy is time talking to a real person who sounds natural. You have that to spare.

Nobody had built a straightforward way to pay you for it. So we did.

What we’re building

Nattive

On Nattive, learners pay for the time they spend talking with a real English speaker. You are that speaker. There is no lesson, no curriculum, no marking. You talk, the way you would to anyone, and you are paid for the time you spend.

You set your own rate, whatever you want to charge. You log in whenever it suits you and log off when you are done. No script to follow, no manager on the line, no shift to clock into.

Every speaker is checked before they start earning so learners know who they are talking to. After each conversation you get rated, and a good rating brings you more people wanting to talk.

You keep most of what you charge, and payouts land weekly through Stripe, straight into your bank.

It is the same thing you do for free every day. The only difference is that here, someone is glad to pay for it.

What getting paid to talk looks like

You have half an hour before dinner. You log in and end up talking to someone in Brazil about a film you both happen to have seen. It does not feel like work, and at the end of it you are a few pounds better off.

A learner in Japan books regular time with you because they like how you explain things without making it a lesson. They are not a student, exactly. More like a standing chat that happens to pay.

Someone comes on the night before a job interview and just wants to say their answers out loud to a real person. You listen, you react like a human would, and they log off less nervous than they came on.

None of it feels like a job, which is the whole point.
