Free group English courses for learners in developing countries

Nattive Classroom gives learners in developing countries a real English course: four weeks in a small group, taught online by a teacher Nattive has reviewed. The learners who join want English for work, study and everyday confidence, and their place costs them nothing.

A small English class on a video call: the teacher and a few learners

What is taught

Every course is built around English learners can use from the first week: real conversation, careful listening and the confidence to speak.

  • Everyday conversation

Introductions, daily routines, making plans and asking for help.

  • Listening and understanding

Following real conversations, directions, and phone and video calls.

  • Speaking with confidence

Time to speak in every class, in a group small enough for everyone to take part.

  • English for work and study

Describing work and study, handling meetings and holding a full conversation.

How each course runs

  • 8 one-hour classes over four weeks, two a week at the same times
  • Small groups of up to 5 learners at the same level
  • A reviewed teacher, teaching online and paid for every class
  • Free for every Classroom learner, with no card and nothing to pay later

Who the Classroom is for

The learners who join want English for work, study and confidence: a new job, a university place, remote work, travel, or simply speaking up in English. Places are for learners in the developing countries we select for the programme, subject to funding and places.

Every Classroom learner is a Nattive learner, taught by a Nattive teacher and working towards the same thing: English they can use.

How it's paid for

Part of every lesson booked on Nattive, 10% of the price, goes to the Classroom. That money pays the teachers who run the classes, so every place is free for the learner.

Who can join

Places are for learners in the developing countries we select for the programme, subject to funding and places.

We’ll publish the current eligible countries and course-specific requirements before opening applications. Eligibility and available places may vary by course.

Eligibility is automatic. A learner signs up with their country, and if it's on the list, Classroom appears in their account, ready for them to choose a level.

Classroom opens in new countries over time.

How a class opens

From a new account to the first class, in three steps.

  1. A free account

A learner signs up with their country. If it's on the list, Classroom appears in their account.

  2. A level and a timetable

In Classroom, they choose their level and the days and times that suit them.

  3. The class begins

Nattive offers them a place in a class at their level. They confirm it, and the course begins.
