Nattive

Our mission

The opportunity to learn shouldn’t depend on what you can afford.

We started Nattive to help people learn English. Along the way, we realised that wanting to learn and being able to afford lessons aren’t the same thing.

So we’re building a different kind of language-learning community. When you improve your own skills through a paid lesson, you also help someone else learn English.

When we first launched Nattive, we thought we were helping people find a better way to learn a language.

What we hadn’t realised was just how many people wanted to learn English but simply couldn’t afford lessons.

That changed how we thought about Nattive. We didn’t just want to help people learn. We wanted their learning to help someone else get that same opportunity.

That’s why every paid lesson on Nattive helps fund free group English courses for learners in developing countries, where paid lessons are out of reach for many people.

Learning for yourself can help someone else learn

Nattive is a place to book live 1:1 lessons in English, Spanish, French and German. Each paid lesson contributes toward Classroom, which funds small-group English courses taught by paid teachers. You make progress in your language, while helping other learners access an opportunity they may not otherwise have.

A commitment we can be measured against

100,000 hours of live English teaching by the end of 2032.

That’s our public mission target. We’ll show the hours we’ve funded, the hours actually delivered and the Classrooms that make up that progress. We want our community to know what their lessons are helping make possible.

Our mission? To fund 100,000 hours of live English teaching for people who otherwise couldn’t afford it.

To help people improve their language skills through live lessons, while every paid lesson helps fund free group English courses for learners in developing countries.

Our vision

A world where the opportunity to learn English isn’t limited by what someone can afford.

What this means for everyone

  • Paying learners

Improve the language you want to learn. Your lessons help make more teaching possible.

  • Teachers

Earn by teaching, and be part of a marketplace that helps create more paid teaching opportunities.

  • Classroom learners

Access a structured English course and work toward your own goals with a real teacher.

Real progress, not just promises

Funding a course is an important milestone, but it isn’t the same as delivering a lesson. Our impact reporting separates contributions, funded teaching and teaching actually delivered.
