Your italki teacher knows your goals. Here’s one more.
If you take lessons on italki, you already know how personal learning a language can become. A conversation about your weekend turns into a conversation about your family. You finally explain a joke. Your teacher has probably heard more about your vacation plans than your friends have.
We want to invite that commitment into something bigger: a community working to fund 100,000 hours of live English teaching.
Keep your own goal at the center
Nattive offers paid private Spanish, French and German lessons. Each paid lesson also helps fund free group English courses through Classroom for learners in developing countries who cannot afford private language education.
Your own lesson still needs to be right for you. Before trying a new teacher, write a three-line brief:
- The conversation I want to have is ____.
- The teaching approach that helps me is ____.
- The part I currently find difficult is ____.
Use it to choose a teacher and explain what you want from a session. If you love how your current teacher gives feedback, name that preference. You do not need to forget what works just because you are exploring something new.

Give the bigger goal a practical meaning
At Nattive, contributions from paid lessons are pooled toward Classroom teaching. A booking contributes to funding; a course still has to be funded, scheduled and delivered.
The goal is ambitious enough to matter and specific enough to check. You can follow current progress rather than guessing what a phrase like “giving back” means.
You can appreciate one teacher and explore a new mission

There is no requirement to turn a good learning experience into a complaint. Honor existing bookings and provider terms. Any decision about your next lesson should make sense for your progress, your budget and your values.
We are looking for learners who understand what a teacher's time is worth and want more people to have access to it.
Bring your three-line brief. We will bring a rather large shared goal.
